FOXGLOVE TREE
Paulownia Tomentosa
Hardy, deciduous tree. If left to grow it will produce heart shaped leaves about 8-10ins across. After about 5 years,it will then produce the "foxglove" like flowers, hence its common name. However,a lot of people like to cut the plant back to about 1ft in March (stooling). It will then start to produce lots of side shoots. Remove all but 3 or 4 healthy ones, and the plant will very quickly grow again, producing leaves upto 2ft across. Some of these shoots may reach as heigh as 15-20 ft by the end of the summer. The new shoots and leaves have a very velvety appearance and are very tactile.
